From Ecksdee

History of the project

Round about December 2005, Amir Taaki showed Vincent Knecht some poorly functioning hovering code for a modified CEL (Crystal Entity Layer) mechtest demo on a Crystal Space terraina level.

Vincent Knecht added an automated build system to it, and from there the two started contributing backwards and forwards small fixes which led to a project being registered in January. Ecksdee gradually became a mod of Crystal Core, the WIP tech-demo written by the author of Crystal Space and the Crystal Entity Layer, Jorrit Tyberghein.

Shortly after Pascal Tempier contributed a new player ship which drastically improved the screenshots.

At the end of Feburary and the beginning of March 2006, Ecksdee saw it's first public release first at HappyPenguin.org [1], and in other places thereafter and with it a flurry of webhits on the sourceforge project page. Project news sites have begun to start posting news about Ecksdee's release independent of the project's developers.

Pascal Tempier then made the level you see in the screenshots and most of the content in the current game. Vincent Knecht then ported some code from another project called Automanic (now Interstate Outlaws), paving the way for online gameplay.
